PIZZAPERTA: FESTIVAL FINALE
SAT 27 May at the Star directly opposite Pyrmont Bay Park
Following the Pyrmont Growers Market, the Star will celebrate the conclusion of the Pyrmont Festival across the street from Growers Market at Pizzaperta, the Star’s open-air piazza style Italianate pizzeria and bar. To conclude the Pyrmont Festival, Pizzaperta will offer gourmet pizza with toppings from the Growers Market paired with Mudgee Wines from Di Lusso Estate.
Pizzaperta is run by Australia’s Godfather of Italian cuisine, Stefano Manfredi and restaurateur, Julie Manfredi . The restaurant offers the craftsmanship of traditional pizza using only artisan and unrefined, stoneground Molino Quaglia ‘Petra’ flours, imported from Italy for the very first time to Australia.
Toppings on the custom made Gourmet Market pizzas will be sourced from the Pyrmont Growers Market and will include:
- ALTO olives from the Southern Tablelands,
- Pino’s Dolce Vita ham, proscuiutto and nduja
- The School House’s crescenza cheese
- Brilliant food’s Hot smoked trout
Each pizza is designed with simple flavours to complement the handcrafted pizza base, cooked to perfection in the Stefano Ferrara M130 wood-burning oven direct from Naples. The Pyrmont Growers Market pizza will be paired with wines from di Lusso Estate in Mudgee, which offers Australia’s largest range of Italian varietals. The estate’s old world Tuscan-style wines will provide a perfect complement to Pizzaperta’s custom made gourmet pizza.
